New Florida favorite: Deep sea fishing on the Gulf of Mexico

Deep sea fishing in Florida is now something I can officially check off my bucket list. It was so much fun taking one of our favorite Minnesota lake hobbies and trying it out on the open ocean. The fish we caught were exotic and the memories we made were priceless. I can’t wait to do it again.

We went deep sea fishing at Miss Pass-a-Grille, a fishing charter near the resort we were staying at on the white sandy shores of the Gulf of Mexico. The captain and everyone on board were so friendly and helpful. We had perfect sunshine, weather and smooth sailing.

Our avid fisher was in heaven! It was so fun to see Abby all smiles. She even got to play captain and drive the boat. It was a treat to spend the afternoon on the water with her.

Our family caught more than 35 fish. We had a competition between the boys and the girls to see who could catch the most and while the numbers were close, the boys won. We caught lots of different fish including groupers and white snappers. It was exciting to see what roams the ocean floor.

It was the perfect day and one of the best ways to end our family vacation. There is something so serene and peaceful about traveling on the ocean and exploring the vast blue-green waters. I fell in love with St. Pete Beach, FL during our time there and I can’t wait to return for even more adventures.
