This past weekend my cousin and I spent 72 hours in Denver. We road tripped around the area to see the most iconic sights, hike, attend a concert at Fillmore Auditorium and visit one of the coolest rooftops in the city. We did Denver well in the short amount of time we had in our weekend trip. If you’re visiting the mile high city, here are my suggestions:

1. Garden of the Gods

A geological wonder, Garden of the Gods is absolutely breathtaking. The National Natural Landmark offers dramatic views and towering sandstone rock formations all located in Colorado Springs (1.5 hours south of Denver). It’s situated before the surrounding mountains of Pikes Peak and the stunning views can be observed on 15 miles worth of trails. Its the perfect scenic place to explore for nature and hiking lovers.

The park is free to visit and is beautiful before sunset. Be sure to bring your camera, wear comfy shoes and drink lots of water–Garden of the Gods sits at about 6,400 feet above sea level. Visit the park at 1805 N. 30th St. Colorado Springs, Colorado.

2. Red Rocks Ampitheatre

Red Rocks Ampitheatre is a must for any concert lover. Even if you’re not big into music, you have to visit this iconic venue. The open-air rock structure is open daily to the public and offers amazing views of the city of Denver and surrounding mountains. People visit to hike the Red Rocks Park and exercise within the pavilion.

An estimated amount of 750,000 non-concertgoers visit Red Rocks every year. It’s spectacular. I can’t wait to return and see a show there. If you have the chance to see a live concert there — do it! But if there are no shows playing and you’re in Denver, definitely still visit. It’s awesome.

3. 54Thirty Rooftop

54Thirty is Denver’s highest open-air, seasonal rooftop bar at Le Méridien Denver Downtown with a focus on crafted cocktails and globally-inspired bites. It has city views on one side, and mountains on the other. We went late evening and it was so fun. They have fire pits, lounge areas, string lights and great music. Definitely my kind of city scene. Located at 1475 California St, Denver, CO 80202.

4. See a concert

If there are no shows of interest playing at Red Rocks, definitely check out what’s happening at Denver’s other music venues downtown. We went to see 5 Seconds of Summer at Fillmore Auditorium and it was a huge trip highlight. The venue was cool and the band was incredible.
