NYC adventures: Brooklyn Bridge

The people of New York seem to avoid leisurely walking the Brooklyn Bridge at all costs. Yes, they think it’s pretty. But most people I’ve talked to have said they’d rather admire it from afar. “There are too many tourists,” they say. “It’s overcrowded.” While all of this is true, I can’t help but love everything about it. The views are breathtaking and the walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn is spectacular. Plus, it’s a really fun place to take photos.

The Brooklyn Bridge is slightly over 1.1 miles long and has a walking path for pedestrians and bikers and six lanes of traffic. It was built in 1883 and crosses the East River. It’s known for being featured in many popular movies and is iconic to New York.

My friends and I took a Saturday to explore it the other weekend and it was definitely one of my favorite days in NYC.

I love seeing New York this way. I put together a little video to show what it’s like to cross it:
