23 days ago I moved to New York City. Today, I started my first day as Video Intern at the New York Post on the 23rd floor. I was born on the 23rd and 23 has always been my lucky number… coincidences? Nah.
Luke 1:45 – “Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her.”
Romans 8:28 – “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
I have no doubt that God has organized every moment and opportunity in my life and college career to lead to this. I have definitely felt his hand and favor on my life these last few weeks as I have settled in and begun one of the biggest adventures of my life. This entire trip so far has been surreal. Living in Manhattan alone is a dream come true. I work in Times Square near Rockefeller Center and get to pursue Journalism in one of the Journalism capitals of the world. What could be better? Simply put: it’s beyond my wildest hopes and dreams.
My first day at the NY Post was overwhelmingly good. I cannot believe that I get to experience this internship in such a huge scale professional newsroom. I’ll be working for four months alongside some of the most talented journalists in the country’s oldest continuously published newspaper. I can’t even begin to express how excited I am.
The NY Post was founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton, is owned by News Corp and is also one of the top papers in the country ranked by circulation. Its evolved over the years into a national digital brand and its channels are infused with a mission to boast a renowned tradition of bold, irresistible coverage.
Most of the NY Post‘s stories are newsworthy, entertaining, surprising and gossipy. I already know this job is going to be a good fit. I know I’ll be challenged in a setting that pushes me to creatively grow and strengthen the skills I have learned during my time back in Minnesota at my home college UNW. This is such a fun season of life and I’m enjoying taking it one step and day at a time.
I’ll be posting a lot in the coming weeks about city life, my semester at The King’s College and my internship at the NY Post. Make sure to subscribe to my blog and follow my instagram for daily updates including photos and videos:
