Ice ice baby – Stillwater new home to popular winter attraction

A popular winter activity and staple in Minnesota, the Ice Castles’ new location in Stillwater is a winter wonderland you don’t want to miss. However, time to visit is limited as temperatures in the cities are on the rise. The Ice Castles are situated in the heart of Stillwater’s historic river town right along the St. Croix and there’s plenty to see and do if you make the trip out there.

Stillwater, MN is one of my favorite places to visit. The town itself is just as picturesque as the Ice Castles, and there’s an abundance of activity. From their thriving food scene, adorable boutiques, art galleries, live music and more, there’s definitely a lot to check out. It’s perfect in the summertime, but with this newly added land of enchantment, it’s a city to see during all seasons.

The Ice Castles began in the home state of Brent Christensen. He was building an ice cave for his daughter in his backyard in Alpine, Utah and dreamt up the concept of the Ice Castles. They’ve come a long way since their humble beginnings and currently have four locations in the United States and one in Canada.

I love seeing the Ice Castles when dusk falls and the evening sky darkens. My favorite part is the light show that glistens all throughout the castles. The ice shimmers in every direction and there’s a magical glow that fills the air.
